Election Results

Cedar Park–Members of American Legion Post 911 elected officers to serve for the 2024-2025 term during the April 9th meeting at Heroes Night Out. 

Officers are elected from among the members of Post 911 and server for a term of one year. The next election will take place April 2025.

The following is the list of the new team of executive officers:

  • Commander-Lee Cooper, US Army Veteran
  • First Vice Commander-Charles Auldridge, US Navy Veteran
  • Second Vice Commander-Mary Dale, US Army Veteran
  • Adjutant-Lou Wolting, US Army Veteran
  • Chaplain-Steve Adams, US Navy Veteran
  • Finance Officer-Bill Keller, US Navy Veteran
  • Judge Advocate-Michael Carl, US Navy Veteran
  • Sergeant-at-Arms-Ray Via, US Air Force Veteran
  • Historian-Justin Slagle, US Army Veteran
  • Past Commander-Steve Kuwitzky, US Air Force Veteran

Scholarships for Students Heading to College or Vocational Training

Overview

The Hunter-Morris Memorial Post 911 of the American Legion has established three scholarships to help students offset the cost of tuition and fees during the first year of their post-secondary education. 

The scholarship offers $2,000 for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Eligibility

Eligibility for this scholarship is open to all students within the boundaries of LISD, including private and charter schools. Award determinations are based on the following areas:

  • Both weighted and unweighted GPA.
  • Current class ranking.
  • Current JROTC Rank & position.
  • A listing of extracurricular activities.
  • Post-secondary education institutions to which they have been accepted or are applying.
  • Financial need
  • Community service
  • Two recommendations from the school. (e.g. coach, teacher, counselor, etc)
  • Three recommendations from outside school and not family.
  • Written essay no longer than 500 words, is to give us their definition of liberty and how it is important in their life.

Deadline

Applications and recommendations must be received no later than August 1, 2024. Award notices will be announced  in late summer 2024.
