Donald Anthony DeMars

Don DeMars who was born in Gary, Indiana passed away and is now in peace. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, JoAnn DeMars as well as his brother David DeMars and his parents Ross and Julia DeMars.

Don served our country in the Air Force starting in June 1959 and he was Honorably Dischargedin October 1966. He worked for TRS in Austin,Texas then came to work at the Leander Independent School District for 22 years. Don enjoyed spending time with his family, going out to eat, fishing and hunting. He was also heavily involved with the Ham Radio and The AmericanLegion.

Don was a very active member of the Cedar Park American Legion Post 911. He will be greatly missed by his family and fellow legionnaires.

Donald Lee Schliesser

Donald was well known in the Amateur Radio community (call sign K6RV), especially as an outstanding CW (Morse code) operator. He was very active in the Williamson County Amateur Radio Club. He became a “Silent Key” on 18 December 2020 and will be sorely missed.Donald was retired from the US Army where he served as a missile technician in the NIKE Missile Air Defense branch.

Donald served as the Judge Advocate for the Cedar Park American Legion Post 911. He was veryactive in fund raising for the monuments at the Cedar Park Veterans memorial Park and can be credited for being the primary force behind its fruition.

Donald was a very active member of the Cedar Park American Legion Post 911. He will be greatly missed by his family and fellow legionnaires.

Chief Troy Reid Cole SR

Troy Reid Cole SR of Cedar Park, Texas passed away on February 8, 2022 at the age of 95 years. He was unexpectedly but peacefully called home to enjoy an eternity of peace and happiness. Troy died in comfort surrounded by his beloved wife Patricia and their children.

Troy was born on July 7, 1926 in Yucaipa, California to father Walter C. Cole and mother Grace M. Overly. Troy enlisted in the Navy in 1943 where he served 35 years, finally retiring as an EAC-E7. He enjoyed life and loved his family and friends and in turn was loved by all who knew him. His interests in life were wide and varied, even publishing a book called The Silver Secret of Caballo Bay, a short story about one of the more interesting military operations during WWII. He retired from his occupation as a county surveyor in Southern California after 26 years.

Troy was proud of his contribution to the planning, securing land and creation of the Cedar Park Veterans Memorial in Cedar Park Texas.

He was laid to rest at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Texas.

William Joseph Taparauskas

On Thursday, January 26, William Joseph Taparauskas, Jr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away. He was seventy-five, having just celebrated this milestone with his family. He served in the US Army from 1969-1971, completing his active duty as a First Lieutenant while stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. He was extremely proudof his service to our country as an officer in military intelligence during the ofheight of the Vietnam War.

Bill had a wide variety of interests and hobbies. He was active in The Association of Homebuilders, Houston Inventor’s Society, Knights of Columbus, Texas Sentinels Foundation, VFW and the American Legion.

Bill was one of the most active members of the Cedar Park American Legion Post 911. He volunteered many hours helping to fund raise for our events and was always promoting the Legion amongst his many business associatesand friends.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; son Trey and wife Ann Taparauskas and sonKevin and wife Stephanie Taparauskas; grandchildren, Joseph, Benjamin, Matthew, Sarah, Nathan, and Luke; siblings Kathy Abrecht, Barbara Scherer, Paul Taparauskas, Theresa Taparauskas, Anne Taparauskas, and Dorothy Taparauskas.

He will be missed as Bill never met anyone that couldn’t ultimately end up a best pal. He was selfless and thoughtful, caring more about the friendship or relationship or the other person’s circumstances than what the relationship could do for him.

Kenneth Francis Hoskin Sr.

Kenneth (Ken) Francis Hoskin Sr. was born in Akron, Ohio, on August 20, 1943. He is the son of Donald Francis Hoskin and Helen Betty Overholt. Ken went to meet Jesus on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at his home in Cedar Park, Texas, due to complications with liver cancer.

He then joined the Navy and eventually ended up on the USS Midway aircraft carrier. Four years after leaving the Navy, Ken joined the Marines for three years.

On May 23, 1975, in Burbank, California, Ken married his Barbie (Barbara Lynne Randall Nelson).

Ken & Barbie were very active members of the Cedar Park American Legion, Post 911. He was also an avid Scout, getting into the newly created Explorer Scouts.

He will be greatly missed by his family and fellow legionnaires.

A celebration of life service was held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Beck Funeral Home.
